CBI nabs global loan fraudster, to be brought to Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Apr 05: The Guwahati Anti Corruption team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a most wanted loan fraudster He was on the run since 2009 from Gomti Nagar in Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

The accused identified as Pramod Kumar Jain alias Pramod Modi and P K Chabra is a resident of Guwahati. He was a wanted criminal as he was engaged in fraud cases worth crores starting from Arunachal Pradesh to various other states in India and also in South Africa, China and Nepal, according to informed sources.

Pramod was running around 32 fraud companies and had taken several loans from different banks in the country, as per reports.  He was living in Omeksh Tower with his family and running a company called Organic India Private Limited.

He was running a forged company called Royal Marketing in Itanagar in 2008 by opening bank account in the name of his friend Pawan Mishra and had taken a loan of Rs 92 lakh from a nationalized bank. After taking the loan, he had fled from the state.

Currently in the CBI custody, he was scheduled to be flown by an Air India flight from New Delhi to Guwahati on Friday, the sources said, adding he would be brought to Itanagar too for identification by the ban concerned.
